Zen & Supra House

This whole-house interior design project was created for a newly built country home surrounded by the natural landscape of Kojori, Georgia. Guided by our signature philosophy, "West Meets East Aesthetic," the design brings together Japanese and Georgian traditions while respecting local materials, daily life, and the surrounding environment. As a Japanese design studio based in Georgia, we sought to create a home that authentically reflects both cultures. Each space is carefully designed with its own character and purpose. The Nakaniwa (courtyard) and Engawa (veranda) strengthen the connection between the home and nature, encouraging meaningful moments with family and friends, while the living room offers two ways to unwind, a traditional Japanese tatami area and a contemporary sofa lounge. A restrained, minimalist interior provides a calm backdrop for curated artworks and subtle Georgian elements. Inspired by the Japanese quiet spirit of Zen (禅) and the Georgian sharing tradition of Supra (სუფრა), the home encourages meaningful moments with nature, art, and family. From the spatial composition to the material palette and crafted details, every element is designed to create a quiet dialogue between two cultures, resulting in a home that feels both timeless and deeply rooted in its place.

ジョージアの自然豊かなコジョリ地区に佇む新築一軒家の内装プロジェクトである。自然とアート、家族の絆を大切にするジョージア人夫妻オーナーの人柄を考慮し、禅とスープラの融合、つまりは日本的且つジョージア的である内装を全身全霊で取り組んだ。地元の自然素材である土、木、石をふんだんに使用し、空間を構成することで地域性を創出つつ、中庭や縁側という日本的な要素を盛り込み目の前の自然と家族で向き合う場所を各所に設けた。リビングには畳をあしらった日本的な茶の間とジョージアの伝統的なカーペットにソファーを配置した西洋的なラウンジをシームレスに共存させ、用途や気分で団らんの場所を選べる空間構成とした。またローカルアーティストとの交流も広く、アート作品の収集をこよなく愛するオーナーの趣向を反映し、インテリア全体をシンプルにまとめて随所に配置するアートワークや伝統的なジョージアのエレメントが映えるよう考慮した。このように団らんや自然、アートを主として、心地よいバックグラウンドに徹した内装は、無や静を美学とした禅の境地を表現する一方、自然と家族の憩いを大切にするジョージアの分かち合う精神"スープラ"をも体現する空間となる。２つの崇高な精神が共存、融合する特別な空間創りは、まさにジョージア拠点の日本人デザイナーたる所以を象徴するプロジェクトとなった。
