Nao Tokuda
is the founder of Design Studio NAO,
an award winning interior/architecture design firm
based in Tbilisi, Georgia.
He was born in Japan, where he began
his career as an interior designer.
After spending 10 years working for design firms
in Tokyo, he relocated to Copenhagen,
where he spent 5 years honing his expertise.
During this time, he worked as
a senior interior designer
for renowned Danish architect Mette Fredskild,
leading a range of projects—most notably
for Marriott International Hotels
across Scandinavia.
In 2020, he founded Design Studio NAO
in Tbilisi, Georgia, where he combines
unique Asian and Western
design perspectives
to deliver innovative, culturally
nuanced design solutions.
大阪芸術大学デザイン学科卒。東京都内の設計施工会社、
デザイン事務所にて商業空間の内装設計業務に約10年間従事後、
単身デンマーク王国へ渡欧。
現地首都コペンハーゲンの設計事務所にて
ブティック、カフェ、ホテル等、様々なプロジェクトを
5年間にわたり受け持つ。
中でも北欧におけるマリオット系ホテルの
内装デザインを数多く担当する。
2020年、活動の拠点をジョージア国 (旧グルジア) の
首都ティビリシへ移し、Design Studio NAO. LLCを
現地にて設立。様々なプロジェクトを
各地で手掛けてきた経験を活かし国際的な賞を複数受賞、
日本と欧州で活動する新進気鋭デザイナーである。
2024年よりトビリシ自由大学、トビリシ州立大学、
国際黒海大学などジョージア各地の大学で
客員講師として現地の建築・デザイン学生へ
精力的に講義も行っている。

mainly focusing on Japanese architectural history,

and approaches to transforming historical buildings
while preserving cultural identity.
